The Department of Chemistry at NIT Manipur has evolved into a vibrant academic and research center since its inception in 2010 under the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities. It became an independent, full-fledged department in 2016 and has since grown steadily in academic programs, research output, and national engagement.
The department has produced over 100 postgraduate and doctoral graduates from its M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs. Our Ph.D. alumni are currently contributing to universities, research laboratories, and industries across the globe.
With a strong research foundation, the department has successfully completed several sponsored projects and is actively engaged in major funded programs, including Early Career Research Grants, Core Research Grants, INSPIRE Faculty Fellowships, and projects supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi.
Faculty members have received prestigious recognitions such as the CRSI Bronze Medal, national and international awards, and Best Poster Awards at reputed scientific forums, underscoring their academic excellence and research impact.
